Trust and Estate Professional
Location: London (Hybrid)
The Role
We are looking to hire a Trust and Estate Professional to join our clients’ Trust Team, this team oversees the accountant and tax compliance of private client trusts and estates ensuring they remain compliant in a dynamic regulatory field. Their clients include some of the largest and most complex estates and trusts in the private client market, and the Trust team provide an integral part of their wider private client offering, they are covering both onshore and offshore matters.
Working in a team of 6 Trust and Estate Management professionals.
Responsibilities
- Manage and administer routine client trusts and estates, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and client instructions;
- Prepare the annual trust accounts, trust tax returns, IHT Accounts and R185s;
- Assist with HMRC Trust Register, CRS Reporting and AEOI Returns;
- The collation of all financial information for trusts;
- Attend trustee meetings and taking minutes as necessary;
- Prepare of trustee resolutions and some drafting of simple deeds such as changes of trustees;
- Prepare estate accounts, estate administration period tax returns and R185Es;
- Prepare tax returns for deceased individuals for the period to the date of death;
- Prepare UK residential property CGT returns for estate sales;
- Liaise with internal and external clients in order to effect an efficient trust (and probate) service;
- Liaise with HM Revenue and Customs as necessary; and
- Liaise with beneficiaries and other professional advisors.
Skills / Qualifications
- You will likely have 4-6 years of experience in a similar role
- Have a background in trust and estate administration/ management
- Able to work autonomously and have a strong drive
- Strong knowledge of trust administration and experience with annual accounts and tax return preparation from within a law firm or accountancy practice
- Experience of dealing with tax reporting for estates
- Qualified/currently studying for a professional accountancy qualification or a STEP membership
- Skills with IT including strong knowledge of Excel, Word, CCH Central and Trust Accounts
- Strong communication skills
- Able to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally
- Able to work well under pressure and in keeping with deadlines
